Information Update

CSEA Members,

The District has posted a sample letter on the District Website (Information – Left Side – 01/08/21 COVID 19 Worksite FAQ) that shows what the District is now required to do (written notice) per Assembly Bill AB 685 for COVID-19 workplace related exposures.

When you go on any school site, you are required to sign in and out. If an employee or student tests positive the one of the District Nurses and Public Health officials determine, based on sign in sheets, whether possible exposure was sufficient to warrant a quarantine or simply notification of possible exposure. The CDC guidelines are used and if you have 15 minutes or more of direct exposure you would be asked to quarantine by one of our nurses. If you simply were in a building where the COVID positive person was, does not warrant a quarantine but you would receive the exposure letter. As indicated in previous communications from me, the COVID leaves under HR 6201 have expired and now you are required to use your own sick/personal/vacation time if you contact COVID or if you are required to quarantine.

We cannot express enough how important it is to practice the three processes of:

  • 1) washing hands frequently

  • 2) wearing a mask

  • 3) social distancing.

It is going to take diligence by everyone in order to begin to manage this situation. Knowledge is power, but so are vaccines. School employees will be in the next tier for receiving the vaccine. Of course, it is an individual decision and one that you should consult with your physician before taking action.

Mark your calendar to log in to our next CSEA Chapter Meeting on Thursday, January 28 at 4:15 p.m. Watch for the Zoom meeting invitation that will come out a week before the meeting. It’s a great way to connect and hear about the challenges we are facing.
